Meet Evan
Friday Harbor isn’t just a destination—it’s home.
Evan Perrollaz has spent his career—and his life—bringing people together to solve complex problems, expand access to essential services, and build a community where everyone can thrive. Now, he's running for Mayor of Friday Harbor to continue that work on behalf of the people who live and work here.
With over 20 years of leadership experience in senior living and healthcare, Evan currently serves as Deputy Superintendent of San Juan County Public Hospital District No. 1. During his tenure, he led efforts to bring Village at the Harbor into the Hospital District, which resulted in better wages, health benefits for staff, and five Medicaid beds for low-income residents. He also spearheaded the launch of Village at Home, a program designed to help island seniors remain in their homes and avoid relocation to off-island facilities.
Before his role with the Hospital District, Evan served as Administrator of Village at the Harbor from 2016 to 2022. He understands how to manage both the operational and human sides of public service, and he has a proven track record of turning ideas into tangible outcomes.
In addition to his public service, Evan is a local business owner with partial ownership in San Juan Island Roasters and Dockside Treasures. He began his professional journey in hospitality, first working as an Executive Chef and then launching a successful catering business in Kirkland. There, he met his wife, Mary, who worked in the office next door to his commercial kitchen. After starting their family in 2003, Evan transitioned into the healthcare field and rose to become Regional Director of Operations for Bonaventure Senior Living, a premier senior living provider with over twenty-seven properties. Following his work at Bonaventure, he founded and ran Cornerstone Senior Care Solutions from 2012 to 2018, offering senior housing placement services, healthcare consulting, recruiting, and specialized training for caregivers in First Aid, CPR, dementia care, and mental health.
Now a decade long island resident, Evan is deeply engaged in community life. He volunteers with local organizations including Rotary, the SJI Food Co-op, Island Artisans, and recently launched the San Juan Islands Healthcare Foundation. His daughter, Ava, is a Friday Harbor High School graduate now studying at Western Washington University.
With experience spanning large-scale operations and local small businesses, Evan brings a collaborative, get-things-done approach to every challenge. Whether advocating for seniors, supporting local workers, or building connections between nonprofits, government, and businesses, Evan leads with purpose—and with people in mind.
And yes, when he’s not in meetings or working on policy, Evan loves roasting coffee—and you’ll find him most weekend mornings behind the counter at his coffee shop, pulling shots and enjoying conversation with friends, neighbors, and customers.
Evan is running for Mayor to ensure Friday Harbor remains a place where teachers, essential workers, artists, small business owners, young families, and seniors can thrive—while preserving the natural beauty and small town charm that make this island so special.
